Teaching Experience in the Bobath Approach
Due to the extensiveness of this experience, I have summarized
the first fifteen years, from 1979-1994. During these years
I taught an average of five to eight Basic courses in Adult
Hemiplegia each year. In these years I also taught four to
six one week introductory courses in both Pediatrics and Adult
Hemiplegia each year. In 1983, I began teaching advanced courses
in Adult Hemiplegia. The number of advanced courses each year
ranged in number from three to five. The majority of these
courses were conducted at the Rehabilitation Institute of
Chicago, Chicago, Illinois and Texas Woman's University in
the graduate program on the Dallas campus.
In 1984 I began training Instructors in Adult Hemiplegia
according to the guidelines set down by the NDTA and Karel
and Berta Bobath. Between 1984 and 1994 as a Coordinator Instructor
in Adult Hemiplegia I was involved in the training of the
following instructors: Beth Fisher, Susan Woll, Nicky Schmidt,
Diane Conti, Bonnie Jenkins, Teddy Parkinson, Karen Brunton,
Sandy Kurisaki, Patricia Bonner, Waleed Al Obudi, Daiva Banaitis,
and Cindy Thomas.
Comprehensive experience and longtime lecturer and instructor
