LOKOMAT ® – a functional locomotion therapy
Vector Gait & Safety System™
In order to provide optimal support for your gait training we offer the possibility of using the Lokomat or the Vector Gait & Safety System™. Robotic gait training is a useful addition in our concept and in our effort to constantly optimize gait therapy. Although it is part of our concept it is only used in cases where we deem it appropriate.
The therapy is appropriate for
- paraplegia and tetraplegia
- traumatic brain injury
- cerebral hemorrhage
- coma patients (also possible during ventilation)
- other neurological disorders (e.g. MS, CP)
Advantages for clients with traumatic brain injury or stroke clients
Clients who haven‘t been able to walk for a longer period of time can get back an idea of what walking feels like.
In coma clients the upright position activates the RAS ( Reticular Activating System) where the brain is more conscious. This has a positive influence on the client‘s awareness.
Advantages for clients with paraplegia and tetraplegia
The consistent walking motion has a positive influence on the muscle tone, prevents osteoporosis and activates the muscles.
The possibility of prolonged walking leads to a better learning effect by enhancing automatism. Through the steady walking movement the client can better adapt to steady movements in general which can normalize the tone.
Although Lokomat and Vector Gait System™ are a useful addition to existing rehabilitation programs they do not replace the therapeutic treatment and assistance.
The Lokomat® is a driven gait orthosis that automates locomotion therapy on a treadmill and improves the efficiency of treadmill training.
The Erigo® combines gradual verticalization with cyclic leg movement and loading to ensure the necessary safety for the stabilization of the patient in the upright position.
THE vector gait & safety system™ Fills the gap in gait rehabilitation
The system consists of an overhead robotic trolley, a wireless software interface and conductive rail. The Vector Gait & Safety System™ allows therapists to adjust different parameters such as body weight support and fall protection settings based on individual client needs. All the data collected during training is then captured for analysis, session comparison and medical record documentation.
Combined with our concept the system is especially beneficial for clients with paraplegia and tetraplegia, traumatic brain injury, stroke and for coma clients.
